The capabilities of Kestrel Resources and its personnel are documented facts -- with a proven history of operational experience. Capabilities available with the Kestrel group include: ! Accounting/Financial Management ! Operations/Production Engineering ! Land/Contract Administration ! Partnership Administration
The keys are talent, experience, state-of-the-art management information systems and consistency. To put it another way, significant cost reductions and increased operational efficiency are invariably achieved when oil and gas assets are consistently administered by a veteran professional staff. Kestrel has the talent, the capability and the experience to operate oil and gas properties, partnerships and companies more efficiently than most.
Kestrel's experience in operating oil and gas assets began the mid and late 70s's with the Terrapet organization. Terrapet's consulting arrangements led to the origination and management of several large exploration and development joint ventures and the firm's acquisition in 1981 by E. I. duPont. These ventures encompassed every phase of activity from developing and analyzing seismic data, to drilling operations, production and accounting. While operating as duPont's oil and gas division, the magnitude of responsibilities increased to include a $20 million a year exploration budget plus management of duPont's other oil and gas interests which included large exploration and development partnerships with a major oil company.
In 1982, following duPont's acquisition of Conoco, Terrapet separated from duPont and began an aggressive acquisition program starting with the purchase of a company that served as general partner to 22 limited partnerships and joint ventures. As a result of this and other operations, management responsibilities eventually expanded to include interests in more than 580 wells, 44 limited partnerships and 10,000 limited partners. This experience has led to a full understanding of the unique problems associated with limited partnership accounting, SEC reporting and reporting to limited partners.
The experience gained from acquiring these assets extends far beyond the maintenance of lease and well data and reporting of monthly production and sales. Terrapet personnel learned to deal with reconstruction of partnership and corporation records, conversion of data systems, liquidations, re-establishing compliance reporting for the Securities and Exchange Commission, federal taxes, state taxes, assuming field operations, inventorying equipment, re-negotiating contracts, plus almost every other conceivable aspect of oil and gas operations.
Starting in 1986, the group entered the service business evolving into a leading asset administration source with responsibility for over 500 operated oil and gas properties and 5,000 non-operated interests. This organization was acquired in early 1991 by Coopers & Lybrand. Since that time, the experience and capabilities of the management team have evolved into Kestrel Resources, Inc., which is currently engaged in the operation of various oil and gas properties, partnerships and corporations.
Kestrel's information system consists of an Miscrosoft Windows Server utilizing fully integrated production and oil and gas accounting software designed in a true "data base management" format. The system is capable of handling numerous completely autonomous organizations or companies, each with security screening for restricting access.
Additionally, a network of IBM PCS provide support for special report requirements. An inhouse economics package has been developed to simplify the analysis of effects of changing costs and process and volume changes on oil and gas reserves utilizing a financial "rate of return" oriented approach.
The information system generates a number of useful standard reports. Most reports can be summarized at various levels, i.e., individual well level, lease, prospect, partnership, corporation or country. The system is extremely flexible when it comes to formatting reports and is capable of producing the report format that meets most special needs.
Procedures have been developed to integrate the computer system with the daily operations of properties or partnerships. Kestrel's standard operating procedures include transmittal of information to outside owners when appropriate, i.e., performance reports, budget expenditure reports, and special reports when appropriate.
It is this experience in managing and controlling all aspects of the energy business that makes Kestrel Resources, Inc. a fully capable operating company. |
